Cedar Lake

4.1

Cedar Lake is located a few miles north of the City of Winterset. It's a great place to fish, paddle, picnic, view wildlife, and hike. The new Cedar Lake Nature Trail is approximately 3.2 miles of uneven surfaces with varying elevations. The trail is open year-round for foot traffic only. (It can be a great area to snowshoe during the winter months.  However, during the winter, you will not be able to travel all the way around Cedar Lake, as our water crossing raft is inoperable when the lake is frozen.)

The lake is managed by Winterset Municipal Utilities and is the drinking water supply for the residents of Winterset. The Historic Jurgensen Bridge was relocated to this site in 2019. Boats are allowed; however, boats are restricted to the use of electric motors only. Picnic tables are located throughout the park; please take your trash with you when you leave as this park does not have any garbage cans. Thanks for helping keep our parks clean!
