McBride Timber Preserve

McBride Timber was donated to Madison County in 1985. In compliance with the wishes of the McBride family, the Madison County Conservation Board manages this 40-acre timber as a wildlife refuge. Although this area has not been developed for public access (no parking areas are available at this time), the public is welcome to explore the park. The refuge is signed on the perimeters as a refuge area. Public hunting is NOT allowed.

McBride Timber is located approximately five miles northwest of Winterset in the northwest quarter of the Madison County. Directions: From Winterset, travel west on State Highway 92 for 1/2 mile, turn north on Kiowa Ave for 2 1/2miles, turn west on 195th Street for 1/2 mile, turn north on Ironwood Trail for approximately 2 1/4 miles.
